about us

The cornerstone of our agency began in 1979 with the founding of The Crichton Company. The company rapidly grew and prospered, winning the loyalty of clients through personal and customized service. In 1988, we acquired Brugh Co., an agency with a proud heritage that dated back to 1902. Again in 1993, the company enhanced its capabilities by merging with the Brandon Insurance Agency, which was founded in 1951.

The last foundation block was added in 1997 as a result of a merger with Granbery and Associates. James Granbery started his insurance career in 1957, ultimately bringing Bob Jackson and Jimmy Ward into the company as owners in 1993.

With decades of combined experience coming together, The Crichton Group is now Middle Tennessee's largest independent insurance agency. We are partners with our clients and not simply an insurance broker; we provide insurance advocacy, intelligence, guidance and understanding. As we like to say, we are your partner, advocate and advisor for all of your insurance needs.

The Crichton Group not only exhibits these traits through their work in the insurance industry, but also as stewards of the community, assisting in local charities and organizations such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Double Impact, the American Heart Association, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Martha O'Bryan Center and the Nashville Rescue Mission, as well as others.
